"Paul laid his hands on those who had been baptized and prayed over them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them." - Acts 19:6
Confirmation is the third (and final) sacrament of initiation. By this sacrament, baptized Catholics are more perfectly joined to the Body of Christ, the Church, and they receive the special grace of the Holy Spirit. They become true public witnesses of Jesus and His gospel and commit themselves to spread and defend the Catholic faith by word and deed.
Confirmation is celebrated once a year at St. John the Baptist. One of the bishops of the Archdiocese of New York confers the sacrament on boys and girls in the eighth grade of our elementary school or our Religious Education Program.
Older teenagers and adults who wish to receive Confirmation do so by participating in the RCIA program which is part of our Religious Education Program.
