Altar servers assist the priest at the celebration of Sunday Masses. It is a wonderful opportunity for young people to grow in their faith by actively serving the Lord at His altar. Any student in the 5th through 12th grade, boy or girl, may apply to become an altar server.

Training sessions for new altar servers take place in the beginning of each new school year. Those who have already been altar servers in other parishes and now wish to serve are welcome any time. Simply call the rectory at 914-963-1486.

The Bereavement Support Group began in our parish in 2001. It is offered to people who experience the loss of a loved one to provide support during a most difficult and painful time. Meetings are guided by a facilitator trained by the New York Archdiocese.

While the promise of our faith is our source of hope and consolation, it does not take away the pain of loss when a loved one dies. There’re ways to help lessen the pain through understanding that grief is important and while that may not alleviate the pain it can help to tolerate it. Members who attend our meetings are welcomed in a caring, compassionate and respectful atmosphere as they walk through their journey of grief.

Meetings open with prayer. Members seated around a table, introduce themselves, share their story and even tears, talk about their feelings, their relationship and especially their loved ones. Some time members are given support and other times they’re receiving it. Often the support that means the most is when they simply listen to one another and hear others express the same feelings.

Bereavement Support Group meets in spring and in fall in the Chapel for eight weeks. Information on the date of meetings will be found in the church bulletin two weeks before and people sign up by calling the Rectory at 914-965-1555. A Memorial Mass is offered annually in November for loved ones of the support group and for the deceased of the parish family. All are welcome to attend.

The group now meets in our Chapel at 854 Midland Avenue, next door to the Rectory: join us at 6 PM if you wish to recite the Rosary, with Bible Study beginning at 7PM.

A seven week journey with Christ in which we offer seven Sunday evenings of dinner, socializing, discussion, song, and prayer to help us learn why Jesus is important in our lives and how to follow him more closely. The program consists of three programs that run in succession: Discovering Christ, Following Christ, and Sharing Christ.

Discovering Christ sessions aim to introduce participants to a closer relationship with Christ, and helps to answer some of the most essential questions to our faith, like "What is the Meaning of Life?," "Why Does Jesus Matter?," and many more. Anyone is welcome to join us for Discovering Christ, whether they are Catholic or not, or even if they have no religious affiliation at all. Sign-up today with a simple phone call or email!

Following Christ sessions aim to dive into deeper relationship with Jesus now that we have gotten to know Him better through Discovering Christ. In this program, we learn to grow more in our faith through daily personal prayer, reading Scripture, the power of the sacraments, forgiving one another, and many other ways. Anyone having completed Discovering Christ at any parish is welcome to join us for Following Christ, and you can always find out more in our events calendar and through parish announcements at Mass. 

Sharing Christ sessions are the conclusion the the overall ChristLife series, and aim to learn what it means to be called to share Christ and his word with all those we encounter in our lives. We learn the importance of Evangelization and how we can be able to go out and proclaim the Gospel while inviting others to now come and learn of the relationship we can all have with Christ! Anyone having completed both Discovering and Following Christ are welcome to join us for Sharing Christ, and you can always find out more in our events calendar and through parish announcements at Mass.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist the priest in distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and bring the Blessed Sacrament to our homebound brothers and sisters. If you or someone you know is homebound and would like to have an Extraordinary Minister visit and bring Holy Communion, please call the rectory.

Leonard I. DiFalco Council Knights of Columbus, following the tradition of its founder, Servant of God Blessed Michael McGivney, works with the parish to assist St. Ann’s physically, financially, socially, and spiritually. We are Catholic men of at least 18 years of age and in regular practice of our Catholic faith who strive to advocate and defend the Catholic faith, perform charity works, and always assist our parish.

To become a member in the Knights, you must be a practicing Catholic man of at least 18 years of age and the enrollment process has been streamlined so you can join online in about 10 minutes.

Saint Ann’s lectors are the laypersons who deliver liturgical readings and announcements from the pulpit during Mass on Sundays, holy days and other occasions as required. All who participate in this ministry find it to be a rewarding experience.

New lectors are always welcome. Anyone wishing to join us is invited to leave their contact information with Nancy at the rectory. Training is available and each lector is given a workbook in which they can review the readings before Mass.

The Music Ministry program at St. Ann’s seeks to enhance the spiritual life of the parish by providing sacred music at Sunday Mass and on special occasions. We encourage individuals with a love of music – and basic singing or instrument skills – to volunteer their time and talents to this ministry.

The Choir program is the heart of our ministry. The Adult Choir is open to anyone of high school age and older. The Choir is present every week from the end of September to May at the Sunday 10 AM Mass, as well as at most holidays and special events. The choir meets to rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8pm in the Church. Please speak with Mr. Loman or email him to learn more.

The Children’s Choir is open to grade school students. It is also present most weeks at the Sunday 10 AM Mass, and sings occasionally at other weekend Mass times. Please speak with Mr. Loman or email him to learn more. 

Cantors lead the singing at Mass when there is no choir. Cantors proclaim the Psalm and Gospel Verse and also set an example of participation for the congregation to follow. Adults and students in fifth grade and older can consider becoming a cantor. Mr. Loman works individually with cantors to prepare them for this important role.

The Parish Council assists the pastor according to the Code of Canon Law as a consultative body whereby the pastor may share his plans for the parish with the people and hear their concerns. Each organization of the Parish selects a member to sit on the Council, and three Members-at-Large are selected to serve. The Parish Council meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 PM in Fr. Anthony Hall. All parishioners are always welcome to attend.

The Advocates of LIfe is a non-sectarian organization dedicated to promoting respect for the inherent, inviolable, and inalienable dignity of all human beings from the moment of conception (fertilization) to the moment of natural death. We accomplish this through:

St. Ann’s Golden Agers (SAGA) is a group of senior ladies who get together weekly for friendly gathering, some fun, and some activities to support the Parish. We meet every Monday from 12:30 PM-3:00 PM in Fr. Anthony Hall. New Members are always welcome!

St. Ann’s Teen Club is a group for High School students where we learn about our faith and explore ways to put it into action in our daily lives. Freddy Carlsson runs the meetings, where we explore our Catholic beliefs and look for ways to use what we believe to help us in our lives, particularly as they affect our lives as teenagers. We meet twice a month on Wednesdays in Fr.Anthony Hall and have lively faith discussions and activities – ending with pizza. The teens run two successful fundraisers during the year.

Ushers and greeters assist at Mass by greeting people as they enter the church, handing them the Sunday music sheet, helping seat parishioners, taking up the collection, handing out the bulletins, and assisting the people with any needs they might have.
