The OCIA is the process by which we receive adults and children of elementary school age or older who wish to enter the Catholic Church. In addition, Catholic adults who need to complete their initiation by receiving the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation may be prepared for their sacraments through the OCIA.
Ordinarily, completion of initiation takes place at the Easter Vigil, and Catholic training continues until Pentecost.
If you have been asked to be a Sponsor and are registered here, please come to the Rectory to complete the paperwork and have it signed and sealed. If you are registered at another parish and the Confirmation is to be held here, please print the Sponsor Eligibility Certificate and bring it to your parish's Rectory for completion. NOTE: The attached is two-sided; please remember to print & read BOTH sides. To verify that you are registered here, please phone the Rectory at 914-965-1555 weekdays from 9AM to 4PM.
The parish defines an “active/participating parishioner” as a person who is registered and worshipping at this parish on a regular (weekly) basis and who commits to a stewardship of time, talent and financial resources to help support the parish and the Church of the New York Archdiocese. Every family member and single adult* must be properly registered in the parish, attending Sunday Mass, receiving and regularly using the parish weekly donation envelopes, or using online giving. Only once someone has been registered and active for a minimum of six months can the parish issue documents attesting to parish membership and Catholic practice, such as a letter to be a Godparent or Sponsor.
* Adult children (age 21+) must register independent of their parents, whether or not they still reside in their parents home.
