“Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them; and whose sins you retain are retained.” John 20: 22-23

This sacrament (called both Penance and Reconciliation—or commonly—“Confession”) is one of the Church’s seven sacraments—the one through which the faithful receive forgiveness for sins committed after Baptism. Confessions are regularly scheduled at St. John’s on Saturdays from 4:00-4:45pm. There are also special times for confessions during Advent and Holy Week.

First Penance

Children in our school and Religious Education Program are prepared for this sacrament in the fall and early winter of Third Grade. Children usually receive this sacrament in the month of January -- and then begin preparing for First Holy Communion.
