"The first apostles, like today's apostles, are not heralds of an idea, but witnesses of a person." - Pope Benedict XVI
St. John the Baptist/Most Holy Trinity/St. Ann offers religious instruction for all students enrolled in our grammar school. Prayers and Religious instruction are part of a child's daily classroom experience from Grade 1 through Grade 8; as well as, a Special Needs Program. In addition there are special Masses, Sunday family liturgies for each grade, sacramental preparation and various devotions throughout the year.
Our after school Religious Education Program is designed for children who attend public school. This program -- taught by dedicated Religious, laymen and women, and seminarians from St. Joseph's Seminary -- helps children grow in their understanding of Our Lord's Gospel, the teachings of the Church, and the life and practice of faithful Catholics. These classes meet on:
Wednesdays (Grades 1-5 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM)
(Grades 6-8 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM)
They include opportunities for special liturgies, devotions, and prayer services which are offered throughout the year. Included in the program for Grades 1-8 is sacramental preparation for First Penance, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Both St. John-St. Ann's Religious Education programs follow the guidelines established by the Archdiocese of New York which offer a clear and uniform presentation of the Catholic faith for each grade level.
The Religious Education programs at St. John-St. Ann's is supervised by qualified Religious and a lay people. Our Religious Education program is directed by Maria Angela Minchilli, former public school teacher with a Masters of Education and a Masters of Religious Education.
