“Wisdom is with the aged and understanding in length of days.” Job 12:12
The SJB Senior Club welcomes all men and women in our parish who have reached the ‘golden age’ of 50! If you fall into that golden category and wish to be part of a friendly and very lively group of people who engage in a variety of social, charitable, religious, cultural, and educational activities—then you will be love being one of our number. We meet every Wednesday afternoon from September to June in the church hall after the 12:00PM Mass, starting on September 7, 2016.
During those meetings (where coffee, tea, and light refreshments are always available) we share personal experiences, listen to talks from invited guests on topics of interest to our group, discuss matters important to our parish or Archdiocese, plan future activities, and occasionally enjoy a game of Bingo! Often we serve a catered ‘hot’ lunch with a variety of healthy and delicious entrees. We are actively involved in the needs of our community—supporting Right to Life Groups, assisting with projects to help local hospitals and nursing homes, and discussing ways in which we can make positive contributions to our parish.
We plan a variety of trips and activities throughout the year—which include special luncheons at local restaurants, as well as trips to museums, theatres, and places of interest in the New York City area. We sponsor fund raisers (bake sales; flea market, etc.) for specific causes; and provide regular opportunities for prayer and spiritual reflection. The annual dues for the Club are $10. Our Moderator and Spiritual Director is Deacon Martin Olivieri. If interested in joining, just come to one of our regular Wednesday meetings. You’ll be glad you did!
